Chessie System: Railroads in West Virginia

This book is an album of 135 full color photos depicting trains operating exclusively in West Virginia on the Chesapeake & Ohio Baltimore & Ohio and Western Maryland railroads during the era when they were part of the combines Chessie System. Most photos range from 1972 to the late 1980s and show heavy trains powered by multiple locomotives hauling the black diamonds that were so much a part of these railroads character. The bright yellow/blue/vermilion paint scheme was always attractive to employees railfans modelers and the public and is fondly remembered. In addition to many interesting trains and operational situations the beautiful rugged scenery of West Virginia is featured in clear bright color photos taken by Everett N. Young E.
