Art in the Kitchen by the Westmoreland Museum of Art

This cookbook—handsomely illustrated with lush tableaux and still lifes from the collection of the Westmoreland Museum of Art in Greensburg, Pennsylvania—was assembled by the Museum’s Women’s Committee in 1995. It takes as its starting point the exhibition Art and the Kitchen which was held at the Museum in 1975. Concurrent with the exhibition, the Museum hosted three celebratory dinners three weeks in a row. 

Inspired by the legacy of this chapter in the Museum’s history, this book compiles recipes submitted by the Westmoreland’s supporters, reflecting “the diverse tastes and styles of artists, collectors, patrons, friends, relatives, members of the Women’s Committee, and staff.” As the preface reminds the reader: “In your kitchen, you are the artist.”
