Retired school administrator Driscoll now travels and pursues his interest in the history of travel. His website on passenger ships of the 1950s indicated a great interest in the America but he could find no book about it so wrote one. It was launched in 1939 to be the queen of a US Merchant Marine struggling out of the Depression but was soon converted into a troop ship for World War II.
